Color lithograph, Arjomari velin paper; 20 x 16 cm in light passe - partout, 31 x 27 cm. The lithograph comes from a portfolio published by Libraire Academique Perrin in Paris entitled "Homage to Raoul Dufy" and made by Atelier Mourlot.
Dufy was fascinated by public scenes, celebrations, and the social life of the elite, but also by life in ports and at sea.
Dufy's paintings always exude light and joy. Even official scenes are depicted with a certain carefree and optimism. His works are dominated by bright, saturated colors - the blue of the sky and sea, the white of sails, the red and gold of flags. Dufy was a master of line. The outlines of figures, ships and details are drawn quickly and confidently, but with lightness. The line often does not close the form perfectly, and the color can "go out" beyond it, which creates an impression of spontaneity and dynamism. His versatility and unique style made him one of the most recognizable artists of the 20th century.
