A 5 zlotych treasury note from the Kościuszko Uprising , 1794, N. C. 2 series, with a 5-digit serial number: 14319
A rare variant of the 5 zlotych treasury note from Series 2, whose print run was nearly three times smaller than that of Series 1, including the N. C. 2 series. It is among the rarest, with a print run that, second only to the 500-zlotych denomination (500 pieces), was the lowest (just over 700 pieces)
A variant with misspellings, lacking diacritical marks in the words:“kazdemu”;“fuduszow”;“Biletow”;“ogolnych”;“powyzszey”;“Uchwaly”;“przyImowac.”
A piece in good condition, partly due to the raspberry hue of the paper, with the natural “ribbed” texture of handmade paper preserved, and no watermark elements visible in the paper. The letters B and S—the chemical security mark—are clearly visible on the banknote, as are the very clearly visible signatures of the two commissioners: M. Skaławski and T. Żarski, each written in a different type of ink. A legible dry seal is imprinted; this is a type found only on the second series 5-złoty note, featuring a distinctive letter “D” in the upper part.
An attractive piece for this variety, with its condition confirmed by the corresponding PMG grading note. On the edge of the lower margin, as well as at the very tip of the lower right corner, there are spot repairs to paper losses; in the center of the banknote, there is handwritten numbering in crayon and an ink blot—which has been noted in the description on the slab.
