Biography
Tamara Berdowska – from 1985 to 1990, she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków in the studio of Prof. Janina Kraupe-Śwideska. She received her diploma with honors. From 1988 to 2018, she participated in over 100 group exhibitions and 22 solo exhibitions. Since 2000, she has participated in symposia organized by Bożena Kowalska for artists working in the language of geometry in Okuninka, Orońsko, and later in Radziejowice. She has received, among others, a fellowship from the Ministry of Culture and Art, the Emilly Car College of Art and Design in Vancouver (Canada), the Pollock-Krasner Foundation (New York), a creative scholarship from the Mayor of Bielsko-Biała, as well as the Prof. Janina Kraupe-Świderska Award, the Grand Prix, “Art of Two Eras,” the National Museum in Gdańsk, Egeria 2000, the Mayor’s Award, the Museum of Ostrów Wielkopolski, and the Witold Wojtkiewicz Award in Kraków. Tamara Berdowska’s works are included in the collections of the National Museum in Szczecin, the Museum in Bochum, the Studio Gallery in Warsaw, the Historical Museum of the City of Kraków, the Archdiocesan Museum in Katowice, the Regional Museum in Chełm, the Regional Museum in Radom, the Center for Polish Sculpture in Orońsko, the Historical Museum in Bielsko-Biała, the Mondriaanhuis, the Museum in Amersfoort, the Mazovian Center for Contemporary Art “Elektrownia” in Radom, the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, the Museum Kulturspeicher Würzburg—Peter C. Ruppert Collection, as well as in private collections in Poland and abroad.
