Monumental tripod cauldron in gilded bronze and green marble with white flecks, Louis XVI style

An ornamental incense burner or monumental incense burner from the late 19th or early 20th century, crafted in the Neoclassical Revival (Louis XVI) style. The object features a tripod structure cast in gilded metal, likely gilded bronze (ormolu) or brass, combined with elements of mottled green and white semi-precious stone, identifiable as marble. The central, ovoid urn is decorated with floral garlands in relief and topped by a lattice-patterned, openwork lid. The structure is supported by three curved legs ending in lion’s-paw feet, which rest on a shaped base made of matching marble. The distinctive feature consists of three figures of winged putti or cherubs seated atop the tripod’s legs; two putti are depicted playing trumpets or wind instruments, while the third faces inward. No manufacturer’s marks, signatures, or hallmarks are visible on the exterior surfaces shown in the images. The metal features well-defined casting details in the garlands and in the texture of the figures’ hair and wings. The stone is polished and exhibits a naturally mottled coloration.
