Eugene Skitaltsev (Yevgeny Nikolayevich Skitaltsev) (1918-1970) - painter, graphic artist. He graduated from the Kharkiv Institute of Ukrainian Art. In the late 1940s he came to Kaliningrad, from 1951 he was a member of the Kaliningrad Union of Soviet Artists, and for several years was also chairman of the board. In 1956 he was elected a delegate of the regional organization to the First All-Union Congress of Soviet Artists. He was an active participant and organizer of regional art exhibitions. At the end of the 1960s, he went to the Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic, where he continued to create.The sea was not only an important theme in his work, but became his true vocation and destiny. Nikolaevich sailed the Atlantic, Indian and Arctic Oceans, from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok. Impressions from these voyages later became the inspiration for his paintings and graphic works. His paintings are distinguished by subtle, restrained colors. He also created genre scenes from the lives of sailors and fishermenHe participated in many regional and international exhibitions in Moscow, Riga and Olsztyn, among others. His works are in the Kaliningrad Regional Museum of History and Art and in private collections, among others.
