Biography
Visual artist, educator, and cultural organizer. He received his artistic education at the State Higher School of Fine Arts (now the Academy of Fine Arts) in Gdańsk (graduated in 1986). He also completed postgraduate studies in Education Policy and Management at the University of Warsaw (2000). In his work, Ireneusz Jankowski initially focused primarily on landscape painting but gradually shifted his subject matter and incorporated a variety of artistic techniques. Geometric abstraction is the culmination of his creative explorations, which began with the transformation, analysis, and synthesis of landscapes and urban scenery. His works are highly consistent in composition while at the same time sophisticated in color. They combine painting with elements of space. The artist employs various visual elements in his works, incorporating relief and developing a unique, personal technique. For a long time, he focused primarily on his work as an educator. He was also involved in cultural education and cultural outreach. For his educational activities, he has received numerous awards, including: the Award of the Mayor of Warsaw (2017), the Medal of the National Education Commission (2006), the Award of the Minister of National Education (1996), and others. He also received a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture and Art (1996). Since 1992, he has been leading his own art program at High School No. 34 in Warsaw. As an educator for whom teaching is a great passion, he has trained a whole host of future art students who are now well-known Polish artists. He has held over a dozen solo exhibitions. He has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, open-air events, art fairs, art events, and workshops both in Poland and abroad.
He lives in Warsaw.
