The Divine Comedy (Italian: La Divina Commedia) – a poem written by the Italian author Dante Alighieri between 1308 and 1321. The Divine Comedy is a synthesis of medieval philosophical, historical, and theological thought, as well as a panorama of the world. As a masterpiece of Italian literature, it is considered a world classic and has had a significant influence on European culture.
The piece offered here contains the first complete Polish translation of the work to have been published in print.
The first translation was completed in 1804 by Franciszek Wigma; however, due to a lack of approval from the Warsaw Society of Friends of Science, it was never published.
