A female allegorical figure holding the staff of Asclepius in front of a suggested landscape, behind her an owl sacred to him and a peacock, the figure herself seated in a swan chariot (referring to Apollo, father of Asclepius).
The artist learned his craft in Flanders, presumably in the workshop of Abraham Janssens, before moving to Rome in 1621. A few years later, around 1630, he went to Bologna and was employed in the workshop of Guido Reni Guido Reni (1575-1642). (1420831) (13))
