In gilded ornamentally decorated frame.
In front of an indeterminate background a man facing slightly to the left, seated over an open music book and holding a violin. His robe and headdress richly decorated, next to him a serving lady. The man's pose, his costume and his smiling expression demonstratively directed at the viewer resemble the figure of the seated cellist in a painting that was sold at Christie's on December 13, 1985.
