Antoni TESLAR

Painter. He painted primarily landscapes, portraits and still life. In 1917 or 1918 he began his studies at the School of Fine Arts in Warsaw. He was associated with the Legions and the publishing section of the Supreme National Committee. In 1921 he made an extensive series of drawings on Pomeranian themes, published as postcards. In 1921-1925 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow in the studio of Wojciech Weiss and Stanisław Kamocki. In 1926-1929 he studied in Paris at the Conservatorie National des Arts et Metiers with H. Magny. Another sphere of the artist's activity was enameling (he received a bronze medal in 1928 and a silver medal in 1929 at the international jewelry exhibitions in Paris). He spent the years 1930- 1938 in Morocco. He traveled to Italy and Spain. In 1936, his solo exhibition was held in Paris. In 1939, he returned to Poland. After the war, he created numerous series of paintings, devoted to themes such as Lower Silesia and Masuria, Warsaw, and also referred to Moroccan motifs. He was a member of the Zachęta Group.
