Beautifully made and rare medallion.
It is the work of Franciszek Witkowski, based on a model by Andrzej Pruszyński. Made at the Henneberg Brothers Plater Factory in Warsaw, during the period of partitions (1880).
Depicting the famous Polish writer, Jozef Kraszewski, this medallion was intended for selected members of the Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts in the Kingdom of Poland.
Bump at the bottom and a small hairline clearance, otherwise unchallenged.
