One painting shows Magdalene in a blue robe kneeling to the right, penitent, looking upwards at a crucifix held by an angel on a cloud, surrounded by other angels. Behind the saint is a wide landscape and some putti playing. To the right of Magdalena on the ground is a child with a hind, both of which are reminiscent of depictions, particularly in the Romantic period, of St. Genoveva in the forest, whose son is being fed by a hind. The other painting depicts Magdalene kneeling to the left in a yellow robe in front of a rock on which an open book and a skull lie for meditation and penance. However, her gaze is once again directed towards a larger crucifix held by an angel on a cloud. In the landscape background, an angel is chasing away a demonic monster with wings and in the right foreground some putti are trying to drive away snakes, which, like the monster, could be trying to distract Magdalene from her meditation. The depiction is also reminiscent of works with the "Temptation of St. Anthony". According to Sestieri, with these two works the painter also applied his suggestive and witty taste to a religious theme; the groups gathered in the paintings stand out in particular and seem to comfort the saint in her penance.
