Good condition. On the backing stamp: "From the collection of Jan Sas Zubrzycki". On the back handwritten notation: "Patkiewicz mieszczanin krośnieński". Seweryn Bieszczad, Polish painter of the early 20th century, associated with Krosno. A student of the Cracow School of Fine Arts from 1868 to 1876, he also studied in Vienna and at the Munich Academy under A. Wagner. He was primarily a genre painter, author of paintings of village life and small towns. Many of his works are based on literary motifs. He also painted city views and landscapes, including those of the Krosno area, where he settled permanently in 1890. He exhibited a lot - in the Society of Friends of Fine Arts in Krakow, in the Krywult Salon and the Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts in Warsaw, Lviv, Munich and Vienna.
