Stanisław August Poniatowski, 6-grosz coin, 1776 FS, Warsaw – trial strike – rarity
A distinctive trial 6-grosz coin with the denomination “6” inscribed in the rim on the reverse.
Obverse:
The king’s head facing right.
Inscription on the rim: STANISLAUS AUG D G REX POL M D L
Reverse:
Beneath the crown, surrounded by a wreath, a five-field coat-of-arms shield featuring the coats of arms of Poland, Lithuania, and the Ciołek coat of arms (the Poniatowski family coat of arms) in the center. Below the shield are the initials F–S (Fryderyk Wilhelm Sylm—Master of the Mint and Intendant of the Warsaw Mint) and the denomination.
On the rim, an inscription divided at the top by a crown and at the bottom by the number 6: 200 EX MARCA – PURA COL 1766
