Sigismund I the Old , Grosz 1539, Gdańsk – PRVS
Bust of Sigismund I the Old wearing a bonnet, crown, and armor (Romanesque type 5I). The shoulder guard consists of two elements. The collar of the armor consists of four elements. The crown features clasps decorated with pearls. The crown’s rim is decorated with pearls.
A variant of the Gdańsk coat of arms featuring large crosses with unequal arms (Romańczyk type 2B). The horizontal arms are only slightly longer than the vertical ones.
A variant with an inscription featuring the king’s title ending in ... PRVS
A variant with punctuation featuring an asterisk dividing the edge inscription on the obverse.

A slightly under-struck but beautifully preserved coin.
