A small bronze issue from the mint of Kebren in the region of the Troad, dated to circa 350–310 BC, struck at a time when the cities of north-western Asia Minor were operating in the final phase of Persian rule and the early Hellenistic period following the conquests of Alexander the Great.
Kebren, situated at the foot of Mount Ida, was one of the important centers of the region, as attested by ancient literary sources (including Xenophon) as well as archaeological and numismatic evidence. In the 4th century BC, the city produced its own bronze and silver coinage, forming part of the broader pattern of autonomous civic issues of the poleis of the Troad.
