The work is part of the tradition of Polish landscape painting, particularly the Tatra School, which was popular in the early 20th century. The painting is characterized by its atmospheric quality and realism, with the central motif of a tree contrasting with the majestic, rocky mountains, which lends it a symbolic dimension.
He graduated from a teachers’ seminary. He was a student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków from 1914 to 1916. His professors were Józef Mehoffer, Konstanty Laszczka, and Stanisław Dębicki. His landscape vignettes featuring birches and poplars were published in the magazine *Sfinks*.
