Irena Teresė Daukšaitė-Guobienė (1942 - 2024) was a graphic artist, illustrator and designer whose work is based on subtle aesthetics and deep symbols. Her work is distinguished by a subtle graphic culture, harmonious compositions and a lyrical, reflective mood. She has worked in a variety of printmaking techniques - etching, aquatint, mixed media - and has created significant cycles that reflect on human existence, everyday life, the past and nature. She was able to combine realistic drawing with more abstract, symbolic motifs, which is why her works are characterised by a multi-layered content.
An important part of her work is her book illustrations and bookplates, which reveal meticulous drawing, gentle humanity and visual poetry. Later works show the effect of abstraction, richer colours and freer form, but always retain a sense of order, rhythm and inner harmony.
