Graduate of the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Gdansk. Studied in 1983-88 at the Faculty of Architecture and Industrial Design. In May 1990 he began working at the Castle Museum in Malbork, where he still heads the art studio, designs exhibition arrangements and takes care of the graphic design of museum publications. In the mid-1980s, he began taking part in international caricature competitions in Poland, Belgium and Turkey. He has won honors and awards, the most important being Grand Prix of Satyrykon'98, Silver Medal in 2014 and Second Prize at Aydin Dogan Vakfi in Turkey in 2005. From 1996 to 1999 he worked with Wprost weekly as an illustrator. Together with Marek Stokowski, he co-authored the book Dreams for Adults and Children. He received an award from the Polish section of IBBY in 1999 for his illustrations for the book. In November 2006, he signed a contract with Lindgren & Smith, a New York-based illustrator agency. His clients included United Airlines, Heifer, Salt River Project, Eating Well Magazine, Pray!Magazine. In March 2009, the children's book Sky Magic with his illustrations was published in the US. A year later, the Taipei (Taiwan) graphic design magazine My Dpi interviewed him in its pages about the origins of his work, his sources of inspiration and his plans for the future. In June 2011, Expedition - a book by the famous Polish polar explorer Marek Kaminski, for which Mariusz Stawarski did more than a dozen illustrations - was released on our publishing market.
