Maria ROGOWSKA-GAJDUCZENI

1907 Milanówek - 1977 Warsaw

Painter, graphic artist, creator of handicrafts. In 1924-26 she was a student of decorative arts courses at the Museum of Crafts and Applied Arts, in 1926-27 a student of the Institute of Fine Arts. She was a student of Tadeusz Pruszkowski and took part in plein-air painting workshops in Kazimierz-on-Vistula. In 1927-28 and 1932-33 she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts. Since 1931 she regularly exhibited in Warsaw galleries, the Institute of Art Propaganda and the Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts. Rogowska was a talented watercolorist. Her oeuvre includes landscapes of Sandomierz, Pulawy, Kazimierz-on-Vistula or Plock. She was the wife of designer Kazimierz Surałło-Gajduczenie. She made designs for interior decorations or posters. She was a member of the International Federation of Business and Professional Women, the Block of Professional Artists and the Warsaw Group of Watercolorists. During World War II, she taught at the Merchants' Gymnasium and Printing School in Warsaw, and later at the Printing Industry Technical School there. After World War II, she engaged in painting in parallel with her activities in the field of applied arts (including in the Bureau of Supervision of Production Aesthetics or the Supervisory Board of the "Art" Cooperative).
