Ryszard Grzyb, in 1981, received his diploma in the studio of Rajmund Ziemski at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Co-founder of the Gruppa art group (1982). A representative of neo-expressionism. In addition to painting, he does graphic design and is also a poet. After several phases of "papers", that is, compositions almost always made with tempera on canvas, and Neo-Expressionist painting full of movement and "struggle", animals begin to appear in the artist's paintings: rhinos, rabbits, birds. As Dorota Jarecka writes: "In 1987, Fung's painting loses its terrific momentum. It returns to its previous state - balance and concentration. Compositions become compact, depicting fewer and fewer events, more and more individual figures and characters, which, suspended in empty space, resemble totems, mascots or masks. Painting is limited to the mask. It approaches metaphysics. It's as if an ever purer, ever clearer form allows one to pose ever clearer questions." The artist's works take on a decorative character, using simplified motifs, but still have an intense appeal. As a poet, he is the author of "Overhead Sentences," published in 2005, which is part of a project started a year earlier, when short poetic yet abstract sentences appeared on billboards, in urban spaces.

"And precisely that, not for art historians, not for posterity, not for connoisseurs, not ambitiously. And precisely to paint so that it's pretty or ugly. Without duplicity, simply. Let it be without "content", without "Philosophy". Some stories about birds, potty, about showing your tongue, about fish in the aquarium, let it be like telling stories made up on the spot. Lightly, like a child making a pipi under a bush. That's what I should stick to. To return to the carnival in myself, which has been lost somewhere to me lately - because this is my element, I am the laughing stock, the jester, the merry one, this is my role to play. To return to the carnival in painting." - Richard Grzyb "Oj dobrze już" No. 1 (Spring 1984).
"Not tall and athletic. Karateka and marathon runner. Long-distance runner - in sports and in art.
Incorrigible and poetic, both in words and in painting.
Rough, unpolished and devilishly precise.
Breeder of canaries, admirer of rhinos.
A singer of color and absurdity.
Promoter of perpetual carnival, master of the grotesque.
Erudite, but not a storyteller.
Poet of haiku and excess.
Earthy and aerial."
