One of her last major exhibitions was held at Warsaw's Kordegarda Gallery (1991-92). Maria Anto quickly developed her own recognizable style. She created a fantasy world, with rich colors, mood and composition. Her paintings are distinguished by a mysterious atmosphere. The artist builds a peculiar poetics. The works are dominated by dark colors illuminated by single bright spots. Ordinary objects acquire an unusual meaning. Surrounded by an aura of mystery they cease to be ordinary - they become beautiful.
