Henryk Strumillo (Vilnius 1934 - 2001 Lodz) - Polish painter, professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz.Strumillo settled in Lodz in 1947. Initially he studied architecture, then took up studies in the atelier of Roman Modzelewski at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Lodz, receiving his diploma in 1961.From 1969, together with Romana Hałat, Aleksander Hałat, Ryszard Hunger, Andrzej Jocz, Zbigniew Kosinski, Andrzej Nawrot, Konrad Frejdlich and Antoni Szram, he co-founded the Konkret artistic group. In 1985 he became head of the Department of General Plastic Education at the Institute of Industrial Forms, then from 1990 he became vice dean of the Faculty of Industrial Forms at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz, in 1993 dean, and in 1999 again vice dean. He died five days before the opening of an exhibition celebrating the 40th anniversary of his teaching and artistic work at the Municipal Art Gallery in Lodz. Strumillo practiced abstract painting - he was inspired by the microcosm. In the 1960s, he created paintings maintained in the style of informel. In the late 1960s, he used jagged forms that created dramatic tension. In addition, he went to the mountains several times a year to paint mountain landscapes, which he kept in shades of browns, grays and blues. He depicted these images using watercolors, gouaches and sketches. He painted a total of more than 1,500 paintings. Strumilla's works were exhibited in a total of 86 exhibitions. He was the recipient of numerous awards, as well as decorations - the Golden Cross of Merit for his teaching work at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz (1985),the medal of the 50th anniversary of the Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz (1996).
