"In 1898 Olga Boznanska settled in Paris, which at the time was the art capital of the world. She did not leave it until her death. The decision was mature and thoughtful. She wanted to be a real, recognized, world-class artist, or perhaps, more correctly, an artist. This is because she was interested in practicing art in general, not art created by women. Given the geography of the art world at the time, only Paris could give her this opportunity. Boznanska was well aware of this. After she left for Munich, Krakow seemed parochial to her. She repeatedly expressed such an opinion in letters to her relatives. However, Munich too, after a few years in it, marked by success, was becoming peripheral and cramped. Great art really developed elsewhere, precisely in Paris."
