"Władysław Walczak-Baniecki was born in 1934 in Koscielisko.
He began painting in 1962.
After many attempts, influenced by traditional painting, the artist turned to the typical Podhale themes of saints and robber scenes. The influence of traditional painting is particularly evident in his paintings and drawing works. Particularly interesting is the creation of color cycles, moving from pastel to sharp colors, which creates a unique mood of Mr. Wladyslaw's painting.
Wladyslaw Walczak-Baniecki is one of the best known and most highly regarded artists of Podhale. He has participated in a great number of national and international exhibitions and has received many awards, decorations and honors. His works are in private collections and ethnographic museums throughout Poland, also in the Museum of Naive Art in Rio de Janeiro, and museums in Chicago, Finland and Paris. In 1976, a regional creative chamber was opened in the Walczak house, which is also a glass painting gallery for visitors. He is a recipient of the Oskar Kolberg Award (1977), for lifetime achievement in composition founding Zasłużony Działacz Kultury. In 2010 he received the award of the Mayor of Zakopane. His achievements were recognized with the Gloria-Artis award for lifetime achievement. (Source: Jaszczurówka, Zakopane)
