Biography
From 1946 to 1948, he attended the High School of Fine Arts in Warsaw. He then studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw from 1948 to 1953. In 1955, together with Elżbieta Grabska, Jan Dziędziora, and Jacek Sienicki, he co-organized the National Exhibition of Young Artists, which, under the name “Arsenal,” became a legend in Polish contemporary art. Oberländer’s painting *The Branded*, shown at that exhibition, became one of the symbols of the “Arsenal” attitude and style. From 1956 to 1961, the artist directed a gallery operating under the patronage of cultural and social weeklies, successively: *Po Prostu*, *Nowa Kultura*, and *Współczesność*. In 1977, he donated a selection of the best works from his artistic oeuvre to the National Museum in Wrocław.
