60x50, oil on canvas, 2013
(Born 1960 in Bialystok)
The artist was born into a medical family; her father, Stanislaw Sierko, also paints.
In 1985 she graduated with honors from the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, in the studio of Prof. Halina Chrostowska, and an annex to her diploma - in painting under Prof. Jerzy Tchórzewski. In 1986 she received a creative scholarship granted by the Minister of Culture and Art.
The artist does figurative painting. Her paintings are romantic, subtle with characteristic colors. She depicts the world of dreams and fairy tales, elves, nymphs, chimeras, angel girls, dancers, women with wings and in flowing dresses, fairies, children and girls, and female nudes. Fairy-tale landscapes with lots of fanciful plants, sea and sky at different times of the day and year. Innocent eroticism emanates from her paintings.
The artist's paintings seem closer in climate and content to 19th century symbolist, post-romantic or Art Nouveau art than to the art of our time. Her paintings are extremely poetic, metaphysical, literary. The artist has held more than a dozen solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions at home and abroad.
