BIO:
Grzegorz Pleszynski - born in Olsztyn, lived in Szubin from early childhood, later in Bydgoszcz and Berlin. In 1989 he graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun in the studio of Mieczyslaw Ziomek. Among other things, he worked as a teacher at elementary and middle schools in Chomętowo (1981 - 1987), Szubin (1987 - 2009), at the Leon Wyczółkowski State Art School Complex in Bydgoszcz (2006 - 2008) and as an art instructor at the Szubin House of Culture (1977 - 1989).
The artist combines sounds with colors and visual forms. The author says that his flowing paint lasts in time like sound and often paintings become a score for musical compositions....and vice versa.
The artist about his work:
For me the most important thing is to get to the source of cognition through art. I am interested in how the culture we live in is oppressive to me and other people. Cultures used to be more oppressive towards individuals, today, it would seem, a little less so. Or is it just appearances? I'm looking for those "shells" imposed by culture or that subtle "powder" that is put on our nature. I'm trying to discover the mechanism that governs this. It is necessary to balance what is necessary from this oppression, and what we can get rid of as superfluous ballast, associated, for example, with tradition and sometimes too rapid progress.
