Artur Majka was born in 1967 in Tarnow, Poland. He has been living and working in Paris since 1992. He graduated from the Cracow University of Technology, Faculty of Architecture, and the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. His versatile education is reflected both in the variety of techniques he uses, which include acrylic painting, photography, screen printing and many others, and in the richness of his professional experience. Indeed, the artist is not only involved in painting or photography, but also in graphic design, including illustrating various types of publications and creating posters. What's more, Majka often applies different inspirations, techniques and styles within a single work, which allows him to achieve original artistic effects, thus adding a new dimension to his work. At the same time, the artist remains true to his education: regardless of the technique used, the basis of the composition of each work is invariably the line. Thus, it remains both the starting point of the work and an integral part of the final effect, also - or perhaps above all - in works where Majka balances on the border between figuration and abstraction.
Artur Majka regularly presents his works in Poland, the United States and France. For the past seven years he has been associated with the Paris-based Roi Doré Gallery, for which he designed its first logo, and where he has exhibited his work several times (in solo and group exhibitions).
