One of the most popular textbooks on Polish history, as seen from the reign of Lech to the reign of Stanislaw August, written by Theodor Waga (1739-1801), historian, lecturer at the Collegium Nobilium. The author was able to capture the reader's attention with concise yet colorful descriptions.
For example, the entire description of the Battle of Vienna: "Jan III Sobieski rushed to the relief of the besieged city in 30,000 troops, and having joined the imperial army, ... took command of the entire Christian army, and struck at the enemy. Polish cavalry was the first to attack the enemy's advance horde, in which the vizier himself was under the veil of Mohammed's banner, and broke it. The vizier fled with flight, and the trepidation moved from the front huff to the side wings, giving the Christians a complete victory over the Turks, so that Sobieski was rightly welcomed as a savior by the people."
Condition BDB-/ notations on the front paste-down, stamp on the front page, flooding and loss of paper of one page with loss of text, nevertheless a NICE piece.
