Czeslaw Jarnuszkiewicz coat of armsLubicz (born August 27, 1888 in Kochoń, died June 19, 1988 in London) - brigadier general of the Polish Army, knight of the Order of Virtuti Militari, participant in the struggle for Poland's independence and an expert in ancient weapons.
From his youth, he was involved in independence activities - a participant in the 1905 school strike and a member of the PPS Fighting Organization. Arrested by the tsarist authorities and exiled to Siberia, from where he escaped in 1910. He studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow and was active in the Riflemen's Association.
During World War I he served in the Polish Legions as an officer of the 5th Infantry Regiment, commander of a battalion, including in the Battle of Stochod. From 1915 he worked at the Military Department of the NKN, designing uniforms and badges, among other things. After the oath crisis, he was interned in Beniaminów, later in the Polish Armed Forces.
Since November 1918 in the Polish Army - commander of a battalion and the 8th infantry regiment of the Legions. In 1920-1927, commander of the 66th infantry regiment. Then, among other things, commander of the division infantry of the 16th Division, and from 1931 commander of Corps District No. I in Warsaw, and later of OK IX in Brest. In 1939 inspector of Military Training and Physical Education.
In September 1939 arrested by the NKVD, imprisoned in Starobielsk and Moscow. After his release in 1941, evacuated with the Anders Army to the Middle East, but remained unassigned. After the war, he settled in London, where he was active as a social activist and collector.
He designed the eagle of the Legions, the eagle of the Riflemen's Association and the badge of the 66th Regiment. He published historical works, including The Eastern Saber and Its National Types (1973) and his memoirs From Siberia to Lupianka (1996). In 1986 he donated a historic saber to the Polish Army Museum.
He died in London at the age of 99. He is buried in Warsaw's Powazki cemetery.
