Aleksandra Wiszniewska, "Swan Lake" cycle shades year 2018, charcoal and acrylic on bristol, 100x150cm
Aleksandra Wiszniewska
graduated from the State High School of Fine Arts and the Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw (1997) at the Faculty of Interior Design and Industrial Design, where she studied drawing and painting in the studio of Prof. Konrad Jarodzki. In 1994-1997 she received a scholarship from the Minister of Culture and Art.
On her path of searching for expression, emotionality in her drawings, she follows the characteristics of coal as a tool used in the times of cave drawings .In her works, chiaroscuro is not so much important as the line itself, the contour.Often filled with color, it conveys the impression of movement, exposes hidden emotions. With thickening lines, she leads the viewer through points of tension, where the line loops and vibrates to the places of the final statement - the metaphorical dot. The emotional layer is of vital importance in her works - a reflection on the existence of the everyday man caught up in patterns of behavior and attitudes. The human figure, often reduced to a symbol or sign, creates a multiworld of stories hidden under the surface layer of the captured pose. Delving into the details, we discover the meaning of small, involuntary gestures of constructed figures testifying to the search for a space of authentic and unforced relations with the surrounding space of human existence.
