Witold Chomicz (1910–1984) painter, printmaker, illustrator, and educator, associated with Kraków for most of his life. He studied at the School of Decorative Arts and Artistic Industry in Kraków and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. He specialized in book graphics, woodcut, and applied design, also creating oil paintings, posters, and stained-glass designs. His work was inspired by Polish folk art, Kraków folklore, and the history of Lesser Poland. From 1950, he was a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, where he headed the Department of Book Graphics.
