silver, hallmarked (on the scoop, a minted Gdańsk hallmark dated 1689-1699 and the goldsmith's monogram NS - in the heart?); length 20 cm, width of the scoop 5 cm; weight 74 g.
Gdansk, ca. mid-17th century (handle) and 1890s-1700s (scoop)
With deep circular scoop decorated with bilaterally engraved motifs of flowers and leaves; connecting element to the handle cast with depictions on the obverse of a bust of a man and below an angel head, on the reverse of an engraved profile bust of a man wearing a laurel wreath with a partially legible Greek inscription, below a decoration as on the obverse; hollow handle topped with a profiled knob.
It is likely that the scoop and handle were not originally an original whole, but were joined together secondarily in an unknown period, as indicated by the different time of their creation and the double decorative element connecting the two parts with a visible (especially on the reverse) mismatch.
