Hostilian's Antoninians are much less common than many other Antoninians due to the short reign of this Emperor. Hostilian was promoted to the title of Caesar in May 251 by his father Decius. In July 251, Trebonianus Gallus was proclaimed emperor and raised Hostilian to the dignity of Augustus, making him a co-emperor. In November 251, Hostilian died.
