Medal designed by A. Scharf on the initiative of the Committee for the construction of the mound of the 300th anniversary of the Lublin Union.
Franciszek Smolka was an outstanding Polish political activist and lawyer. He was the only Pole to serve as president of the Austrian Council of State and Legislative Sejm. He was also the initiator of the construction of the mound of the 300th anniversary of the Union of Lublin in Lviv, for the construction of which he contributed 75,000 zlotys. Unfortunately, he died before its construction was completed. The funeral was a pretext for large patriotic demonstrations and the minting of commemorative medals.
Soiling on the obverse and rubbing to the left of the figure. A few strokes on the border. Very nice detail.
Bronze, diameter 64.0 mm, weight 116.8 g.
