Tempera on wood panel
An expressive provincial icon depicting Christ Pantocrator holding the open Gospel. The lower margin features the formal title "Образ Господа Вседержителя" (Image of the Lord Almighty) in Old Church Slavonic. This piece is a remarkable example of "folk" religious art, characterized by its bold outlines, simplified features, and a warm, earthy color palette. The wide reddish-orange borders are typical of 19th-century regional workshops. Tempera on wood panel, mineral pigments. 33 x 27
