A 20 zlotych collector’s banknote issued by the National Bank of Poland in 2020 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Warsaw, an event considered one of the most important victories in the history of Poland and 20th-century Europe.
The obverse features a portrait of Józef Piłsudski based on Kazimierz Mańkowski’s painting “The Year 1920.” The design is complemented by the Cross of Valor, symbolic motifs of independence, and a panorama of Warsaw, highlighting the role of the Commander-in-Chief in the Polish-Bolshevik War and the defense of the reborn Republic of Poland.
The reverse side features a fragment of the painting “The Miracle on the Vistula” by Jerzy Kossak, depicting Polish soldiers during the Battle of Warsaw. In the background, a white-and-red flag, the Cross of Valor, and a commemorative medal struck to mark the centennial of the 1920 victory are visible, creating an exceptionally patriotic and dynamic composition.
