5 zlotych banknote , 1925 "WZÓR," Series: A, serial number: 1234567 / 8901234
This design was originally intended for foreign cash registers and bears the "WZOR" overprint without perforations; however, it was adapted for domestic cash registers in accordance with the standards of the Second Polish Republic by adding two perforations. At the same time , this design does not bear the design’s print run number, hence it is a kind of “HYBRID” design.
The banknote features the word “WZOR” printed diagonally on both sides between two parallel lines, along with the text “Bez wartości” (“No value”) printed once on each side of the banknote, in the top margin—all text is printed in red. The banknote has sequential numbering, marked twice: No. 1234567 / No. 8901234; it is perforated twice and lacks the print of the edition number.
This variant of the design, featuring perforations and the absence of a print run number, is by far the rarest type of this banknote; it is not listed in Czesław Miłczak’s catalog.
An exceptionally beautiful piece, confirmed by a very high PMG grading score for this type, with an EPQ annotation attesting to the exceptional quality of the paper—this is the HIGHEST GRADE for this banknote in the PMG registry; only this piece from the auction received such a grade.
