The inscription on the altar is a quotation from Horace (translated into Polish: So one must drink, let the earth tremble from tangles.

the most outstanding landscape painter of the 1st half of the 18th century. He also painted portraits. Born in Kent, he studied painting with Warner Hassells and John Wootton. Gaspar Poussin and Salvatore Rosa also influenced his style. He also painted stage decorations for London's Lincoln's Inn Fields Theatre and Covent Garden. He was a friend of William Hogarth and a member of the society, "Old Slaughter's." He was a member of the Society of Artists of Great Britain, exhibiting with it in 1761 and in the following three years. During the same period, he participated in the Academy's exhibitions. In 1765 he and other members separated and formed the Incorporated Society of Artists of Great Britain, of which he was elected its first president. In collaboration with Samuel Scott, Lambert painted a series of landscapes of East India House
