Lukasz Rudnicki's paintings have evolved from the structured, textured, materially morphological canvases of the 1990s to the streamlined, elegant, graphic-drawing paintings he creates today. The subject matter of this figural painting, however, has remained almost unchanged. There are nautical and avionic depictions, frames from exotic situations in the tropics, episodes from wars and naval campaigns, difficult-to-locate situations, archived depictions stylized on old engravings, postcards from another era. Always realistically presented. The paintings are often accompanied by elaborate titles that are meant to interest, or perhaps confuse, the viewer's paths of cognition. Rudnicki's paintings are representational and narrative, but the situations painted in them do not quite lend themselves to being set in a clear historical or space-time framework. The work brings to mind a somewhat surreal atmosphere of lost contexts of time, place and action in Boris Vian's prose seemingly set in specific places and times. Born in 1973. He completed his diploma in painting with honors in 1998 with Zbigniew Gostomski and an annex in graphic design with Rafał Strent. He works in the drawing studio of Ryszard Sekuła at the Faculty of Painting. D. habilitated.
